Magnus Carlsen is a Norwegian grandmaster (born 1990) and was the world chess champion from 2013 to 2023. He has a rating of 2830, ranking him as first in the world. In May 2014, and later July 2019, he had the highest rating in the history of chess with a rating of 2882.
Carlsen became a grandmaster at the tender age of thirteen years, four months, and twenty-seven days, the eighth youngest grandmaster age in history and the second youngest in history at the time.
