If 1...Kxh7??, then winning the black queen is guaranteed: 2.Ng5+ Kg7 3.h5+ Kh6 4.Nxe6+ Kh7 5.Nxd8.

The Greek Gift sacrifice is a common bishop sacrifice that if accepted, allows for a powerful kingside attack. To carry out the sacrifice, one must play 1.Bxh7+ (or 1...Bxh2+ correspondingly) against the kingside-castled king. If 1...Kxh7 (2.Kxh2) is played, the king becomes exposed and prone to mating attacks such as Ng5+ (Ng4+), Qh5+ (Qh4+), and h5+, (h4+).
