Ding Liren is the current world chess champion since 2023. Ding was also the first Chinese player to play in a Candidates tournament. After Magnus Carlsen declined to defend his title, Ding played against Ian Nepomniachtchi in the World Chess Championship 2023 and won in the tiebreaks.
