Chinese Chess

The board, and all peices in their positions.

Most people know (international) chess. But have you heard of Chinese chess? Chinese chess is a popular board game currently played by millions of people in many Asian countries.

What’s the difference between them? They are not different in principle. Each side has an army, moves one piece per turn, and captures by moving onto an opponent's space. Differences include a slightly larger board (10x9),Has diffrent appearances (all of them are Flat and round, with their symbols stamped on them), and piece powers changing depending on location on the board. Owing to the unique China history, geography and cultural background, Chinese chess has its own characteristic. And by playing Chinese chess, you can realize the great wisdom of ancient China.

Here are some Overlooks of the Peices in Chinese Chess:

The Board: is 9x11, but the central lane dosent count as a grid but is a river, on the two sides of the board where the peices are there are 3x3 grid Palaces. last of all, the peices tank on the crosses of the lines instead of grids.

卒/兵 Solider: Is the same as a Pawn, except has its power changed on diffrent places, there are five of them, equally spaced out on the Second grid to the River, they also capture forwards can cannot walk 2 spaces at First, but can start walking and capturing Sideways when they have crossed the river. It has “stations” where it stands in th beginnin.Usually has the plaint worth of 1, but is increased to 2 on the other side of the river.

炮/砲 Cannon: This Peice is unique, it is on the Third row from the river and the second from the side borders, it moves like a Rook but can only capture other peices by having another piece between them. It also has “Stations” where it starts.

車 (车)Wagon: Is the same as Rook and moves in the exact same way. Uses the old symbol for “Car”, 車 instead for the simplified symbol, 车 Fun Fact, despite it would being pronounced chē, it is pronounced jú, Stands in the outer Corners of the board. Has the worth of 10.

士/仕 Inner Guard: Moves once diagonally and can only stay in the 3x3 palace grids, meaning it has A extremely limited moving space, is placed on the sides of the general, who stands in the central cross in the back row. Has the Worth of 4.

象/相 Outer Guard: Moves twice diagonally and is not locked in the palace, but still can’t cross the river. Stands next to the Inner Guards at the beginning.Has the worth of 3.
