An amazon (also known as a queen+knight compound or dragon) is a fairy chess piece that is a combination of the queen and knight (rook, bishop, knight). The value of the amazon is approximately 12 points, or 25% stronger than the queen, which has a value of 9 points.

The Amazon is one of only two pieces that can checkmate a lone king by itself. The other is the archbishop.
